Cuban Dance: Roots and Expression

The Story

Join Yula for an engaging workshop exploring the foundations of Cuban dance, including Afro-Cuban and salsa movement traditions, and uncovering the cultural stories and meanings behind them. Through guided exercises and creative exploration, participants will discover how movement can communicate emotion, identity, and personal narratives. The workshop culminates in the creation of short choreographic phrases, offering a unique opportunity to connect dance, storytelling, and cultural expression. ​ Instructed by Elegancia Cubana(Yula), a Cuban-born choreographer and educator trained at the National School of Arts in Cuba, whose work blends Afro-Cuban and contemporary dance traditions with a strong focus on storytelling and cultural heritage. * This location is not accessible for people with mobility issues.
