The longest pier in Canada, a 2 km promenade under the bluff, and a beach town’s worth of fish and chips, gelato and patios packed into five square kilometres. Curated by locals, refreshed daily.
Walk the promenade from East Beach to the pier, pick a fish and chips or gelato line, and stay for the sunset over Semiahmoo Bay. Uptown on Johnston Road carries the restaurant strip when the beach crowds thin.
West Beach has the pier, the busier promenade and most of the restaurants; East Beach is quieter, sandier at low tide, and better for families. They connect by a flat 20 minute walk, so do both.
Low tide on a clear evening: the sand flats stretch hundreds of metres, the pier lights come on, and the sunset lands straight down the bay. Summer weekends are packed; weekdays and shoulder season feel like a local secret.
