About
Green Timbers Urban Forest is a significant reforestation project and urban park located in Surrey, British Columbia. Originally logged in the early 20th century, the area was replanted by hand in the 1930s, becoming the first provincial forestry nursery in British Columbia. Today, it serves as a vital green space, offering a diverse ecosystem with a mix of mature trees, wetlands, and open areas. The park provides a network of multi-use trails suitable for walking, jogging, and nature observation. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including numerous bird species and small mammals. Key features include the Green Timbers Lake, which supports fishing, and an interpretive centre that educates visitors on the forest's history and ecological importance. It acts as an urban oasis, promoting environmental education and passive recreation.
