What to Bring & Insider Tips
Insider Tips
- 💡
Visit during the Laburnum Walk bloom (mid-May to early June) — the golden chain tree tunnel is the garden's most photographed moment and lasts only 2–3 weeks.
- 💡
Festival of Lights tickets sell out weeks in advance — book online in early November for December dates, especially weekends.
- 💡
The Elizabethan Hedge Maze is fun for all ages — it takes most visitors 10–20 minutes to find the centre.
- 💡
Shaughnessy Restaurant inside the garden serves excellent West Coast brunch and lunch — reservations recommended on weekends.
- 💡
April through June is peak bloom — cherry blossoms, rhododendrons, magnolias, and the Laburnum Walk create continuous colour.
- 💡
The garden is quietest on weekday mornings — arrive at opening for the best photography light and fewest visitors.

Getting Here
5251 Oak St, Vancouver, BC
🚇 Transit
The #17 bus stops right outside on Oak Street, making transit a breeze. If you're coming by SkyTrain, get off at a Canada Line station like Oakridge–41st Ave and grab a connecting bus, as it's a bit of a trek on foot.
🚗 Parking
A large, free parking lot is available on-site, but it fills up fast on sunny weekends and during special events. Arrive early to snag a spot, or be prepared to hunt for limited street parking in the surrounding residential neighbourhood.
